Due to the website editor's wife agreeing to temporarily suspend her life-long mission of turning most of his income into clothes, AirlineKarting.com had a camerawomen (and camera children) at the August event. Click on them for a bigger image. Race 1, Corner 1. All relatively calm at the front of the pack. However, at the back... ...carnage. While Carl Luebbert (17) and Keith Jarvis (21) make good their escape, a Senna / Prost episode ensues behind. Several drivers rubber-neck, and one even stops and turns around for a better view. So good, we had to enlarge - Caption competition. What is Tim Knights (11) saying to Dan Harrison (15)? And the voyeur? Entries via Contact Us please. After a brief struggle and a little light bitch-slapping, a marshal arrives to separate the drivers (and the karts.) Dan scampers away, but Tim fairs worse with a bent steering arm. He starts the long walk back to the pits. Alex Sanderson (12), Julian Berry (8) and Tim Jervis (6) lead the pack in a game of 'Follow My Leader' for several laps under full course yellow flags. The restart gets interesting at Turn 1. Behind leader Perry Musty (1), Rob Sanderson (5) gets the distinct feeling he's being followed... ...while at the back, Tim Knights (11) in his new kart take an unconventional line. Cold tires and different suspension setup, apparently... Mark Perry (4) in a rare shot of him not bumping or curbing, and Greig Montgomery (16) round Turn 5. The back straight saw plenty of action. Mainly the marshal repeatedly cautioning the same drivers (see above.) Organisers Mike Wood (10) and Richard Weber (3) play 'Who Can Lean Their Head The Most'. Mike wins. At the mid-race break, the talk was of Schumacher-esk overtaking and demon out-braking. Some of it was even true. Before setting off for Race 2, the competitors had a go at at sitting in green tyres. Most opted to race in karts. Race 2. The grid forms up. The tension rises. The red lights come on - and green! GO GO GO! (Murray W. would be so proud.) Claire Jarvis (20) and Mike McCann (18) enter Turn 2 under attack from eventual race-winner Julian Berry in red. Behind Robert Krahe (19), Mike Wood (red) and Mark Perry (blue) give each other a cheery wave. Keith Jarvis (21) was minding his own business when the track was invaded by this flag waving Irishman dancing a jig. 'It's Silverstone 2005 all over again,' he thought. According to Alex Sanderson (12), this is about the closest he could get to Justin Dillon (22) through the fast Turn 1 without losing front downforce. Matt Knights (2) and Dave Weston (7) watch as Kevin Cracknell (9) takes to the curb at Turn 5. The Stewards have been informed. Claire Jarvis (20) plays 'Kiss Chase' around Turn 1. Didier Lequeux (13) tries to get an aerodynamic tow from John Tarmar (14) through tricky Turn 5. Mark Perry (4) takes a breather waiting for the pack to catch up. Considerate chap. All too soon it was over - another flag-waving Irishman directs the drivers back for the Podium Ceremony. Richard Weber seems a little too excited with his 3rd place. 1st-placed Julian Berry looks unimpressed with the size of Rob Sanderson's ... runner-up trophy. Race Result, Round 3 Friday 24th August 2007. Dry.
